What Our Authors Have to Say
“Everyone at Poisoned Pen Press has a passion for books that shines through in everything they do Above all, they care about giving their readers pleasure. And they succeed in that aim, all the time.”
–Martin Edwards, author of the Lake District Mysteries
“Poisoned Pen Press works closely with their authors at every step along the road to publication. Their thoughtful, comprehensive editing ensures that every book they publish is as good as it can be. They keep up to date with developments in the publishing world, and move accordingly to make their books available in all salable formats. They cooperate with authors to maximize publicity potential. I can’t imagine a better situation for a mystery writer.”
— Larry Karp, author of the Ragtime Mysteries
“Whoever thought a kid from Pittsburgh would end up living on a Greek Aegean island writing mystery thrillers? But, hey, that’s the price you pay for having Poisoned Pen Press as your publisher. PPP saw Greece as ‘fertile new ground for the mystery genre’ (quoting Library Journal) and put me squarely in the middle of it all. Now, I hardly have time on Mykonos to free-dive for dinner. My life seems defined by 24/7 research into Chief Inspector Andreas Kaldis’ adventures, filled with people from around the world willingly sharing their private thoughts and confidences in relaxed beachside chats or pre-dawn whispered conversations in a club or bar. And I blame it all on PPP!”
–Jeffrey Siger, author of the Inspector Kaldis Mysteries
“The out-sized talents of Rob Roswenwald and editor Barbara Peters have made Poisoned Pen Press a model of classy professionalism. It is an honor and pleasure to be associated with them and their excellent PPP staff.”
“There is no other mystery publisher out there with Poisoned Pen Press’ reputation, experience, and commitment to its authors and their books. Authors are treated with consideration, get timely responses to questions, never get lost in the process. Poisoned Pen Press editors’ close readings and comments certainly improved my novel. I have felt supported every step of the way.”
–Angela Gerst, author of the Susan Callisto Series
“Poisoned Pen Press’ commitment to excellence is reflected in every step of the publishing process, from supporting its writers to giving readers wonderful books. It is a privilege and a pleasure to work with its excellent crew.”
—Twist Phelan, author of the Pinnacle Peak mystery series
“Poisoned Pen Press is dedicated to excellence in mystery, and I am very honoured that they selected my work. The books are delightful to look at and a pleasure to
hold, really I cannot say enough nice things about Posioned Pen Press, though I’m willing to try…”
—Kerry Greenwood, author of the Phryne Fisher and Corinna Chapman Series
“Poisoned Pen Press blends cutting edge publishing techniques with skilled editing of a writer’s work. With eight books in my series, I am delighted to be part of this exciting press.”
—Priscilla Royal, author of the Medieval Mysteries
“I fired my big New York publisher to go with the Poisoned Pen Press and never looked back. For an author, it offers all the benefits of a big house, while also offering the ‘high touch of a small one, plus the guiding hand of Barbara Peters, the best mystery editor working today.”
–-Jon Talton, author of the David Mapstone Mysteries, the Cincinnati Casebooks, and the thriller Deadline Man.
“What can I say about Poisoned Pen Press? The only thing to say is thank you! Thank you for seeing something in those earlier considerably rougher drafts that you felt was worth nurturing and polishing. Thank you for creating a quality product that I’m proud to own. Thank you for your unfailing politeness whenever I have a question or a concern. And thank you for helping me to realize a life long dream. It took many years for me to get published, and I’m not sure what lucky twist of fate I have to thank for leading me to Poisoned Pen Press, but Poisoned Pen Press was worth the wait! ” —Jane Tesh, author of the Maddy Maclin and David Randall Mysteries
“Poisoned Pen Press cares about its readers and delivers top quality mysteries in a wide range of subjects and settings. Poisoned Pen authors praise the press’s outstanding and even-handed support for books set on the decadent island of Mykonos to the trouble-breeding plains of Western Kansas.” –Charlotte Hinger, author of the Lottie Albright series
“It’s simple, really: all the staff at Poisoned Pen love what they do and do it well. For authors, it’s a joy to be enveloped in affection, encouragement and constructive criticism. Readers can be sure that Poisoned Pen publish only books of which they’re proud and which they’ve helped make as good as they can be.”
–Ruth Dudley Edwards, author of satirical mysteries
“Poisoned Pen Press is leading the way into the rapidly changing world of publishing. With a trained eye for acquisitions and vast experience on the editorial side, the Poisoned Pen Press team delivers the goods for its readers.”
–Bill Fitzhugh, author of the Assassin Bug Thrillers
“I’m not just a writer, I’m a voracious reader. Poisoned Pen Press’ mysteries are as good as the genre gets–always entertaining and sometimes capital ‘L’ Literary. That’s no accident. Our publishers, first Robert Rosenwald and now Jessica Tribble, don’t run a fast food version of the publishing business. They’re gourmets. And nobody knows this business or is so skillful at finding the tweaks that turn good into great than our editor, Barbara Peters. I’m proud and honored to be part of this truly special organization.”
–J.M. Hayes, author of the Mad Dog and Englishman Mysteries
